In the Autumn of 2023, myself and fellow RWCMD design student, Ruth Norwood, ran weekly art workshops at Oasis, a refugee and asylum seeker centre in Splott, Cardiff.

With the aim to create an installation for their dining hall space, we produced artwork with clients of all ages, that explored different cultures as well as artistic techniques and skills. These workshops acted as respite and positive distraction for the participants.

Having discovered many of the clients' love for sewing and textiles, we made a set of three tapestries from the items they created, we titled these 'Oasis - A home for all', inspired by the words of a young girl who participated. We also made a tactile art piece depicting flowers from across the world, made using dried beans and pulses.
